Understanding The Emergency
Why This Happens — And Why Our Response Works
Shower and tub emergencies are almost always hair — but emergency-grade hair, compacted over months into a dense, felted mass that water cannot penetrate. The blockage forms gradually, then seals suddenly: the shower that drained slowly yesterday floods today. That suddenness is what makes it an emergency.
The trap arm is the usual culprit, and it is also the most delicate part of the system to clear aggressively. Our emergency technique uses the right cable and head for tub and shower traps — clearing the mass without damaging the trap, the finish, or the waterproofing around the drain assembly.
When a tub backs up with water from elsewhere in the system — the washer running, a toilet flushing — the problem is not the tub at all, but a downstream branch or main issue using the tub as its outlet. We recognize this pattern immediately and redirect the emergency response to the real blockage point.
